Zine Information and Resource List

Zine refers to a small magazine or small format booklet that is often handcrafted. Zines can be made in a wide range of creative book formats. A popular format is to make an eight-page zine by folding a single piece of paper, often using standard 8.5” × 11” or 11” × 17” copy paper. There are many resources and pattern guides about making zines. Zines may be folded from one sheet of paper, or pages that are sewn, stapled or glued to form a small book. Folded groups of pages are called signatures; you can see these in the construction of any book you have. The creative options for zines are endless and there are many how-to-resources that can be found at your local library, art center, art, writing or poetry community, and on the internet. See below for a list of resources and examples.
