The Hidden Faces of Work: Behind Las Vegas' Non-Stop Economy

Nevada Humanities presents The Hidden Faces of Work: Behind Las Vegas’ Non-Stop Economy, an exhibition featuring the photography, reflections, media, and creative work of students at the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. This exhibition is curated by Julian Kilker, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Emerging Technologies, at the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies.

Developed during a class project at the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, this exhibition explores the city’s invisible laborers and work, their physical burdens and emotional toll, and their experiences making sense of work and life. The exhibition features student photographers who are themselves often full-time workers and exploring their own career aspirations during a period of rapid change in visual media. Featured artists: Julieta Aldrete, Kendall Banas, José Blea, Gizzell Contreras, Cynthia Covarrubias, Joshua Cruzado, Xayve Diaz, Jero Guerra, Joshua Harris, Lynnsie Holloway, Desiree Jacobo, Julian Kilker, Seth Kordich, Miriam Lachica, Chassidy Lynn, Angelo Masangkay, Adriana Orchard, Isabella Pupo, Adryan Qujiano, Julia Sidley, Nickolas Tanouye, Joy Villanueva, and Brandon Wong, as well as a historic image from the Warren A. Bechtel Photographic Album, UNLV, University Libraries Special Collections and Archives.
