Then and Now: The Neon Boneyard Lighting Up Las Vegas, curated by Kelli Luchs and Derek Weis, was a Nevada Humanities Exhibition Series that showcased the collaboration of the Las Vegas News Bureau and the Neon Museum to create an exhibition that juxtaposes the brilliant neon signs, as they stand today in the Neon Boneyard, against their vintage images from the News Bureau’s archive. These images reveal the impact that neon had in Las Vegas from its early days to the present. This innovative look at the history of Las Vegas highlighted the origins of the city’s signs and their ever-evolving styles and architecture. Then and Now was displayed in the Nevada Humanities Program Gallery in Las Vegas, Nevada, from June 6 - July 24, 2019. The reception and curator’s talk took place on Thursday, June 6, 2019.
