Embedding Latine Identity in Art and Poetry: Poetry Readings and Community Discussion

  • The Solidarity Fridge 5502 Blackthorn Drive Las Vegas, NV, 89142 United States (map)

Join Nevada Humanities and Clark County Poet Laureate Ms.AyeVee on Sunday May 4 at 11:00 am at The Solidarity Fridge in Las Vegas for poetry readings and a community discussion inspired by Latine poetry, identity, and heritage. This program follows up on the Art-Making Towards Latine Poetry event that took place at Fergusons Downtown on April 13. We invite you to join us for a discussion to explore themes of family and community, language, ancestry and identity, voice and resistance, and how we might work towards creating a more joyful and capacious future.

This is a free family-friendly event. We ask that you RSVP in advance.

This program is presented by Nevada Humanities as part of Latino Poetry: Places We Call Home, a major public humanities initiative taking place across the nation in 2024 and 2025, directed by Library of America and funded with generous support from the National Endowment for the Humanities and Emerson Collective. Places We Call Home seeks to foster nationwide conversation through a new anthology edited by Rigoberto González, events around the country, an online media archive, and a wealth of library resources meant to spur in-depth reflection and discussion on key figures and themes.
