Join Nevada Humanities on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 6:00 pm PT for a conversation with writer Kahlo R. F. Smith. During this livestreamed event, we will discuss topics like writer’s block and the life of a writer as we play through the narrative game Forgotten Fields.

Kahlo R. F. Smith (she/it) was born in the redwoods of Felton, CA and is pursuing an MFA in Fiction at the University of Nevada, Reno. She writes about cryptids, children's theme parks, rat queens, and other monsters. Her writing haunts the pages of Last Girls Club, Luna Station Quarterly, and Trembling With Fear, and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize by Fatal Flaw.

Kahlo holds BAs in Anthropology and Religious Studies, and currently teaches undergraduate writing courses in the UNR English Department. Its research in Monster Studies has shocked and horrified at the PCA National Conference and the UCSC Festival of Monsters.
