[Partner Event] The View from Here: Stories of Perspective and Discovery

  • DRI Reno Campus – Stout Conference Room 2215 Raggio Parkway, Reno (map)

Nevada Humanities is partnering with the Desert Research Institute on a new series of events in Reno and Las Vegas. Curiosity Lab by DRI brings together storytellers from science, the humanities, and the arts to illuminate our shared connection to the state of Nevada.

Join us for an evening of storytelling that explores the world through new perspectives and the discoveries they inspire. The View from Here invites you to see how technology, curiosity, and innovation allow us to view our surroundings in ways never before possible. From scientific breakthroughs to personal insights, these stories reveal how shifting our perspective can unlock a deeper understanding of the world around us.

DRI Storyteller: Dr. Eric Wilcox is a DRI researcher focused on the interactions between aerosols, clouds, and precipitation to better understand regional climate variability, radiative forcing of climate at regional scales, and precipitation processes.

Featured Speaker: Michael Branch is a University Foundation Professor, Emeritus at the University of Nevada, Reno, and an award-winning writer and humorist. His published work includes 300 essays and ten books, among them the Pulitzer Prize-nominated John Muir’s Last Journey.
