Great Reads from Great Places: Meet Jen Nails

Nevada Humanities and its Nevada Center for the Book selected two books by Nevada authors to represent Nevada at the 2025 Library of Congress National Book Festival as a part of the Great Reads from Great Places program. During this online conversation and Q&A, come meet our featured YA author, Jen Nails, as she converses with fellow librarian Mimi Powell. Discover how food, family, and place are central to her storytelling, alongside the value and importance of libraries in Nails’ life.

This event will be held on Zoom. Registration is required.

Nails’ book One Hundred Spaghetti Strings was selected by Nevada Humanities, home of the Nevada Center for the Book, to represent the state at the annual Library of Congress National Book Festival that will be held in Washington, DC on September 6, 2025. Every year Great Reads from Great Places, a list of books representing the literary heritage of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, and Northern Marianas, is distributed by the Library of Congress’s Center for the Book during the National Book Festival.

This event is made possible with the support of the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Chief Officers of State Library Agencies.

Jen Nails is a librarian with the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District and loves football, yoga, writing, and spending time with her friends and family.
